Are you tired of being tired?

Are you too often finding yourself being tired? Needing coffee to get through your day? Whether you don’t sleep well, doing too much, feeling stressed or suffer of an illness, tiredness is something a lot of us struggle with and can be very debilitating.

What can we do about it?

Especially when you suffer of an illness, it is so important to build up your energy stores.

Over the coming weeks I will write a series of articles about tiredness and what you can do to relieve it.

Today I like to explain to you why we get tired in the first place, from the perspective of our life force energy. What is your body trying to tell you? And how can you stop aggravating your tiredness?!

The ancient Chinese already knew that we have 3 important energy-storage places inside our body. These can’t be seen, as most of us can’t see energy, but they are there and hold the amount of energy we have for our body and mind to function well and for us to be active.

When you were born, most likely you had a good amount of energy in those stores. But as you grew up you started to use the energy and soon you used more than what your body could do to replenish it.

Usually we replenish our energy by sleeping well, eating well, breathing well and resting. If we live lives that don’t use so much energy these means of replenishing our energy stores should be sufficient. But because we live our lives in ways that use a lot of energy these ways are no longer sufficient.

Being busy, being stressed, being in a hurry, having too much on, not sleeping enough, not eating well, not breathing well, overusing our bodies by doing a lot of sport, living mandatory lives sitting for long periods of time and getting cold are a few things that cost a lot of energy. Yet, these things are extremely normal.

So, what to do? Let’s look at a first step we can take: food. How can we eat in a way that helps us to replenish our stores and keep them topped up? The energy we use during the day we use mostly during the morning and the afternoon. In the evening we don’t use so much and at night we get energy from our sleep. Food needs to provide us with energy during the day. Therefore, you need a good breakfast and a nutritious lunch. Lunch should be the biggest meal of the day, because the energy from it needs to take you through the afternoon. At night, eat a small dinner only.

This not only provides more energy, it also means your digestive system uses up less energy and gets to rest, repair itself and regenerate during the night.

Never skip your breakfast or your lunch; you are literally robbing your stores from the energy you need in order to stay healthy and get through the day!

Hence, eat a good breakfast and a big enough lunch. And eat a small meal at dinner. Or as sometimes is said: ‘eat breakfast as a prince, lunch as a king and dinner as a pauper.’

Extra tip 1: if you suffer from being overweight, eating this way might assist you in normalising your weight.

Extra tip 2: eat a warm breakfast with plenty of nutritious foods, such as nuts, seeds, avocado, green veggies and egg.

Now I am curious to hear from you if you recognize yourself in hurrying through the day, not taking the time to eat a proper breakfast and lunch and feeling tired as a result. And especially, how you feel about changing this. Try it out and let us know how you are doing! Leave your reaction in the comment box below, so we can all learn from it and I’d love to get to know you a little better.

I am looking forward to your reply!

With love and gratitude,
